This compelling contemporary abstract oil painting showcases the brilliant structural intuition and raw process-driven depth of contemporary artist Alejandra Quintanilla within her celebrated Formas on Canvas collection. The artwork tracks a profound narrative where the residual elements of painting become the subject matter itself, making the viewer aware of both time and studio process within a self-referential framework that honors the historical lineage of abstract art. The horizontal layout anchors a powerful perspective structured around a dense geometric environment, balancing interlocking segments of pastel pink, warm mustard ocher, bright orange, royal blue, and dark olive green. Shifting dynamically between flat fields and rich textures, the composition defines its fields through thick, sketchy black outlines filled with fine cross-hatched marks that rise effortlessly across the canvas plane.

The process of creating a painting leaves behind a series of elements that become the starting point for a new piece. A mark, a line, color and shape become elements of a new painting as well as subject matter. Making the viewer aware of both time and process in painting. t’s a series that is self-referential while at the same time keeping in mind the history of abstract art.
