The commanding masterpiece stands as a definitive milestone showcasing the formal sophistication and raw gestural energy of ALMO’s acclaimed The Head Series. This exceptional large scale modern painting intentionally disrupts traditional portraiture, deploying a premium large-scale canvas substrate as a minimalist landscape to float a highly structured, fragmented human silhouette in constant visual transition. The composition features a human profile template completely enveloped and invaded by an intricate, dense maze of multicolored paint splatters, violent drips, and thick gestural cells executed in heavily saturated primary, neon, and warm earth tones. This calculated visual matrix functions as an anthropological map of borders, nomadic displacement, and transcontinental memories, transforming the canvas into a raw physical statement on identity fluidness.
Whether they are symbols, dreams or marks of the life of each of us. The artist's work often features portrait paintings, floating bodies, trees, dollar signs, cars, laurel branches, and symbolic elements that denounce the cruelties of our borders. Almo executes his drawings intuitively in these acrylic paintings, aiming for a state of ' semi-trance' as he himself defines his process.
