The artist was inspired by African masks and traditional Brasilian folk art sculptures called Carrancas which are wood sculptures attached to the prows of riverboats that are meant to ward off evil spirits.These works are unique in their creation because paint is applied behind the surface being used which in this case is plexiglass. Almo, Jorge Alberto Murilo, was born in Honduras, grew up in the Philippines. He lives in Brazil, Salvador, Bahia, since 1999, today he lives in São Paulo. Regarding his academic training, he graduated in Industrial Design, completed in 1997, at the European Institute of Design, Milan, Italy. He has training in Architecture from the University of Florence, Faculty of Architecture and the Milan Polytechnic.
