This photograph captures what Instagram culture would later eliminate: genuine privacy within public space, authentic connection before performance became compulsory. Two blonde figures share an intimate moment at a table, their proximity and body language suggesting genuine conversation despite surrounding chaos. One figure adjusts hair or jewelry in a gesture of unselfconscious grooming—an act that digital culture has transformed from private adjustment to performed ritual. Sukan's positioning suggests insider access yet maintains observational distance characteristic of documentary tradition; he's present but not intrusive, documenting but not directing. The surrounding figures blur into background context, their faces and costumes providing atmospheric density without stealing focus from the central interaction. This photograph exemplifies the series' core value: it preserves moments of authentic human connection within fashion's performative ecosystem, captured during the narrow window when such moments could still exist unmediated by smartphone screens and Instagram consciousness. The image functions as both social document and elegy for a mode of gathering that technology has fundamentally altered.

Sükan created the ‘La Notte’ series as he was working for international magazines documenting the fashion shows and backstage as well as the social times of the fashion world in Paris, Milan, London, and NY between the years 2004-2010. ‘La Notte’ is mainly from one specific costume party that is given by Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue in Paris. The party was before the social media era specifically before the Instagram era which makes it very private and has not been shown anywhere else.

Preserve authentic connection. This archival inkjet print on baryta paper documents genuine intimacy amid fashion spectacle—a mode of social interaction increasingly rare in our hypermediated present. Edition 2/6 + 1AP captures Carine Roitfeld's Paris gathering before selfie culture transformed every encounter into content. Available at The Art Design Project, Miami Beach. Inquire to discover how this candid moment can bring emotional resonance and historical significance to your collection of documentary candid fashion photography.
