Within his critically acclaimed Danza de las Naranjas series, creator Ricky Cohete treats the lens as an analytical laboratory, seamlessly blending real-world performance elements with an imagined, supernatural narrative to translate unspoken internal states. The composition positions a dynamic, linear group of bare-shouldered male silhouettes, organically camouflaged and unified behind identical reflective gold masks that catch the studio light. Over this dense field of figures, the calculated atmospheric friction structures heavy, flowing drapes of pure crimson, cobalt, and amber, successfully bridging the gap between raw document and imagined mythology against a pitch-black environment void.
This series is inspired by a dream vision of the "Dance of the Oranges", it is a visual choreography of a message that comes to manifest itself in the movement of the men who dance. From its conception the message is transmitted, whispered and illuminated to create harmony in this imaginary world.
