Manglar Nuquí captures mangrove ecosystem photography documenting coastal forest where aquatic and terrestrial realms intersect—trees growing in saltwater creating unique biodiversity hotspot essential to marine and coastal life cycles. Winograd's documentary lens reveals mangrove essence: tangled roots, brackish water, dense canopy creating nursery for fish species while protecting coastlines from erosion and storms. The work explores dense interconnections between people and environment through mangroves' role: Pacific coast communities depending on healthy mangrove ecosystems for fishing livelihoods, yet facing pressures from shrimp farming and coastal development creating social conflict between conservation and economic development. This photograph generates contemplative emotions about mangroves as transitional ecosystems neither fully aquatic nor terrestrial, their preservation essential to maintaining Colombia's coastal biodiversity and protecting human communities from climate change impacts.
Miguel Winograd's work explores the relationship between people and their environment, narratives of social conflict, and the dense interconnections of the Colombian landscape. His Landscape photography, which occasionally includes portraits of trees, captures the essence of nature through a documentary lens.
