The mixed media photography diptych 262023 & 266930 by Italian artist Salvatore Arnone explores the boundary between objective reality and subjective perception. Belonging to the ONE series, this two-panel artwork combines black-and-white photography with gestural acrylic, pastel, and pencil interventions to overcome the limitations of traditional lens-based art. Translucent red and teal-green circular forms hover over monochrome landscapes and textured architectural backdrops, capturing a dreamlike, altered vision of the world. Influenced by Arnone's experience with progressive hearing loss and introspection, this mixed media photography diptych offers a poignant visual inquiry into isolation, sensory shift, and surrealist balance.

Although photography remains Arnone's primary form of expression, the artist begins to see certain limitations in this medium when it comes to adequately depicting his altered and often dreamlike vision of reality. In this series, photography is combined with various techniques (pastel, acrylic, pencil, etc.) to represent the duality of the objective/subjective, the real and the imaginary.

  • Italian artist Salvatore Arnone lives and works in Paris since 2014. After a debut of career as an engineer, he moved into jewelry design and worked for different brands around the world for almost 10 years. Despite this immersion in the creative field, at some point he felt the need to dedicate himself solely to photography and focus on his own vision. In 2010 he got published for the first time on Vanity Fair Italia and over the years his work has been displayed on several magazines and exhibitions all over the world. From the age of 25, he began to experience progressive hearing loss due to genetic cellular degeneration that forced him to use hearing aids. The lack of one sense deeply affected his perception of the world around him and his social relationships pushing him to a slow but constant process of self isolation that is well visible in all his production.
