I Am Dissolved #1 and #2 materializes romantic dissolution photography as split consciousness—diptych structure reinforcing psychic fragmentation where the lover divides between inner fantasy and external reality. Rey visualizes Lacan's notion of surrender to the Image: subject dissolving into projection, unable to reconcile love lived internally with love lived publicly. The body becomes unstable territory suspended between longing and erasure, staging romance's destabilizing aftermath rather than narrating it.
An insipid notion (The astonished world) is a collection of unreal experiences caused by the feeling of late and inexperienced love, and the inability to fully know the experience of love open to the world, public, without shame. "The lover is then separated from the world, he un realizes it because he fantasizes, on the other hand, the adventures or utopias of his love; he surrenders to the Image, in relation to which everything disturbs him" (Lacan)
