Paramo Chingaza presents páramo ecosystem photography documenting high-altitude landscape's harsh beauty—unique Andean moorland existing above tree line where extreme conditions create specialized biodiversity. Winograd's documentary lens captures páramo essence: grasslands, cushion plants, lagoons creating ecosystem found only in northern Andes' highest elevations, essential to regional water supply yet threatened by climate change and human encroachment. The work explores relationship between people and environment through páramo's role: these landscapes provide water to millions in Bogotá region, their preservation involving social conflict between conservation and agricultural expansion. This photograph generates contemplative emotions about páramo's dual character—simultaneously harsh and beautiful, remote yet vital to human populations below—suggesting that documenting these ecosystems means witnessing environmental wealth whose protection requires balancing ecological importance with communities' economic needs.
Miguel Winograd's work explores the relationship between people and their environment, narratives of social conflict, and the dense interconnections of the Colombian landscape. His Landscape photography, which occasionally includes portraits of trees, captures the essence of nature through a documentary lens.
