  • He was born in Neira, Caldas, and completed his early studies at the School of Fine Arts in Bogotá. The Colombian artist, David Manzur Londoño, who began in art in Boto, a Spanish settlement in Equatorial Guinea, where he lived from the age of 3 to 17, studied at the Claret Art School in Las Palmas, Islas Canary Islands, before entering the School of Fine Arts in Bogotá. Manzur tried various forms of expression that ranged from music and dance to acting and painting, a field in which as a purist creator and seeker of perfection, he has placed himself in the front row of Colombian artists and as one of the Latin Americans of aseptic realism. In 1961 he won the "Guggenheim Prize" and in 1962 he won the "1st Guggenheim Foundation Prize" in New York. In 1964 he won a scholarship to study at the Pratt Graphic Art Center, awarded by the OAS. He later obtained the prize from the Government of Antioquia, in the Second Biennial of Medellín. Some of his works are found in the United States, in the Pan American Union in Washington, in the Inter-American Bank, in the Library of Congress, in the Museum of the University of Oklahoma and in collections such as Loockwood, Cleveland, among others.
