Serrano's artistic work centers on an interest in exploring his territory and its representation. In recent years, he has focused on the natural sciences as an object of study for his research and creation, seeking to establish connections between remembered events and other fictions in his imagination. This line of work emerges from the investigations he has conducted in a territory called Laguna, whose meaning expands into synonyms and/or other definitions of the word—for example, when speaking of a "mental gap"—which are translated into the visual metaphors of this place, constructed from childhood memories.

GEOIDE SERIES

About the GEOIDE series: The artwork is a three-state model of an inorganic body, beginning with a black, alien-like rock formation, which gradually unfolds as it evolves, revealing its contents as a whitish crystal with unknown properties.

ORBITA SERIES

About the ORBITA series: This artwork depicts a perfectly synchronized dance across an ocean of empty space, inspired by the "Astronomical" section of the Jet Chocolate Bar Natural History Album (1986 edition). The stickers depicting the "Total Solar Eclipse (version 1-2)," the "Lunar Eclipse," and the "Annular Solar Eclipse" were taken from this section. The pictorial representation of these images, created with acrylic paints and rapidograph on wood panels, is oriented toward geometric abstractionism, understood as a constructive approach that seeks to highlight the simple forms and color of the image on a single plane.

INVASION GAMA SERIES

About the INVASION GAMA series: This series of analog collages is constructed from precise assemblages of printed fragments, forming symmetrical compositions that suggest entities or emissaries from an alternate cosmic order. The work integrates visual resources from contemporary graphic material and industrial elements, reorganized into organic-mechanical structures. This system of pieces offers an abstract reading of the tension between the expansion of human consumerism and the emergence of a new self-regulating nature, translated into morphologies that evoke symbolic artifacts from a non-human dimension.

XENESTELA SERIES

About the XENESTELA series: Exuberantly colorful, symmetric colleges with ovoid shapes, called emissaries, originate from another cosmic dimension. We are troubled by the unsettling apprehension that they may become the presence of space beings who, in command, will govern the new laws of nature of the future.

 REPRESENTED ARTIST

Fredy Saúl Serrano Buitrago is a Colombian artist with a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Industrial University of Santander. In his works, he uses diverse media such as drawing, collage, painting, and sculpture, hybridizing them with tools from other disciplines such as design, science, fashion, architecture, and installation, seeking a poetic presentation of these visions. He chooses concrete, everyday territories, convinced that direct experience with forms and materials allows him to generate certain reflections necessary to understand a common whole. Serrano has held multiple solo exhibitions throughout his artistic career. For his works, he has received national recognition and incentives since 2005, such as the Artistic Scholarship for Artists with a Career from the National Incentive Program of the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Knowledge (Colombia), and the Mention of Recognition from the Fifth Young Art Salon of the El Nogal Club, Bogotá, Colombia.
