This historically significant masterpiece sets an elite standard, establishing itself as a premier example of avant-garde architectural photography where vernacular infrastructure is deconstructed into a flat, abstract study of rhythm and form. Shot in 1947 during his celebrated Mexican period, Leo Matiz masterfully bridges the gap between traditional clay tiling and the rigorous linear purity of mid-century abstract vanguards. The diagonal composition isolates the repeating rows of curved tiles, transforming a functional shelter into a complex visual tapestry of rich organic textures, weathered moss, and sharp chiaroscuro highlights. Expertly developed as a premium gelatin silver print, the work celebrates material truth, pattern, and spatial harmony. Signed, titled and dated in pencil on verso, "Leo Matiz, Techos Mexico, 1947"

Black and white photographs that reveal the various facets and aesthetic searches of the legendary Colombian photographer, recognized as the creator of memorable realistic, abstract and avant-garde images. They turned Leo Matiz into one of the most original and innovative personalities of universal photography in the 20th century.
