This compelling geometric ink drawing contemporary artist Neerja Chandna Peters within her celebrated Alphabet of Geometry collection. Executed as a labor-intensive unique pen on premium archival paper masterpiece, the artwork relies on geometric shapes and a sophisticated language of asemic writing to map out an emotional quest and subtle symbolism. The vertical visual layout structures an intricate multi-layered diagram where a solid black circular core floats amid a dense matrix of radiating hand-drawn ink lines, overlapping compass curves, and geometric banners containing deconstructed ancient texts that look back at us like an undeciphered manuscript.
The series Geometric Alphabet is part of my series Geometric Abstract, in which the abstract game is used in the form of asemic writing with geometric shapes. Here Peters recreates her fascination with ancient text in abstraction, to accompany the subtle symbolism of her compositions that evoke the quest.
