This visually arresting masterpiece of contemporary performance photography serves as a defining structural document of María José Arjona’s internationally acclaimed body research. Conceived as a self-taken photograph during her landmark solo exhibition at Location One in New York, the artwork records a rigorous, long-durational performance. The composition positions Arjona's nude body as a biological bridge between two monumental, transparent inflatable structures. By breathing through mechanical valves, her physical frame becomes an active intersection that charts the internal rhythm of lungs, muscles, and vital fluids.

The Kiss was a self-taken photograph and was part of her solo exhibition in New York at the Art Space Location One, in 2012. The Kiss maps a system uniting two bodies. It is a gesture magnified by the use of sound emerging from the action of kissing and intensified by the working presence of the performer’s body. “The Kiss” (is a long durational performance), Portrait photography, a breathing system where the performer’s body becomes the intersection enabling the entire organism to work, reveals the intricate rhythm between lungs, fluids, and muscles while kissing.
