James Bond - Castelloland presents spy icon surreal photography where 007 inhabits artist's constructed world—archival Bond photograph digitally manipulated creating atmosphere between reality (recognizable spy legend) and fiction (Castelloland's surreal narrative additions). Castello plays with memory of Bond mythology, relating inherited cultural icon to present through contemporary digital intervention where legendary spy transcends original film context entering Paloma's personal imaginative realm. This 2015 archival pigment work oscillates between fiction and reality: Bond remains identifiable cultural object yet exists within artist's parallel universe created through experimental digital editing. The photograph evokes emotions about how Hollywood icons become raw material for autofiction—untouchable legend made malleable through surreal romantic intervention, spy entering Castelloland where each image's uniqueness is fundamental to narrative developing through interaction between word (Bond cultural significance) and digitally manipulated object.
 
Paloma Castello presents to us a nostalgia-filled body of work. The collection represents the soul of her proposal: inherited objects discovered or found that have become the tip of the iceberg of her past. These are elements she collects, recollects and then classifies following a method that frames her anachronic attitude that proves as evidence of the youth of her art. She also demonstrates that the experimentations on herself are common in an artist who’s just beginning her career. Castelloland works with objects whose uniqueness proves to be fundamental to the piece’s narrative in each story because each piece reacts and happens through the word and object interaction.
