Combining architectural draftsmanship with a profound conceptual inquiry into value, Rodrigo Spinel presents 200 Valor Real, a major full-note masterpiece from his Paper Money is White series. Rendered in green ink on paper, this work meticulously redrawns line-by-line the complete layout of a historic Colombian 200 Pesos Oro banknote, transforming its complex guilloché lathework, official typography, and security vignettes into an intricate geometric grid. Spinel isolates these historic monetary symbols from commercial circulation, redirecting the concept of worth to the laborious dedication, temporal commitment, and disciplined repetition of the artist's hand. This original 200 pesos oro banknote drawing offers collectors an imposing statement piece that bridges financial heritage, intricate line work, and modern conceptual art.

The project stems from a reflection on the value of work, time, and effort dedicated to constructing images as complex and full of meaning as those found on banknotes. The meticulous process of redrawing segments of these designs line by line seeks to extract their details, expressions, and symbols from the context of money, highlighting the memories and anecdotes they evoke. In this process, the repetition of lines gradually imbues the work with a new value.
