Guided by the analytical lens of his architectural training, Rodrigo Spinel pays homage to modern graphic design heritage in Herbert Bayer. Executed in Chinese ink on 250 g Fabriano paper, the piece meticulously reinterprets the motif of a historic postage stamp infused with Bauhaus constructivist forms and sharp typography. Spinel contrasts the stamp as a narrative vessel—traditionally telling national and cultural stories—against the utilitarian, standardized contracts of modern air waybills. A key work from the Terms and Conditions series, this original fine art stamp drawing stands as a compelling inquiry into the shift of visual languages under globalized commerce.

The project is based in the contrast of the two images, the air waybill and the postage stamp, from different times but similar in their function. The artist seeks to enlighten the change in the use of the image, to reflect on how some languages disappear due to the globalization and new ones emerge with unified visual parameters. Formerly the stamps told stories from a country, a place through their image, nowadays the air waybill is a contract with terms and conditions.
